Miss Small Is off the Wall
The story revolves around Miss Small, the gym teacher at Ella Mentry School, who introduces a very unusual approach to fitness. Instead of traditional gym activities like dodgeball or freeze tag, Miss Small teaches the kids to juggle scarves, balance feathers, and do the Chicken Dance. The students, including A.J., Andrea, and their friends, find her methods strange and amusing, which leads to lots of laughter and funny situations.
Miss Small is portrayed as energetic and quirky—she even attempts flips on trampolines while juggling various sports balls, earning her the nickname of being "off the wall." Though her methods are odd, her motto emphasizes fun, safety, cooperation, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The children experience games that encourage movement and teamwork but not necessarily competition, mixing fitness with goofy challenges that keep the story lighthearted and entertaining for young readers.
